Comfy Agent
Last updated: September 29, 2026
What Comfy Agent is, how to start using it on Comfy Cloud, what it costs, and how to fix common issues.
Q. What is Comfy Agent?
Comfy Agent is an assistant built into ComfyUI. Describe what you want to make, and it plans, builds, and runs the workflow for you, right on your canvas.
It can:
Build a workflow from a template and customize its prompts and settings
Change part of an existing workflow without rebuilding the rest
Add, connect, configure, and remove nodes
Check a workflow for errors before it runs
Look at images you attach, and read video and audio details
Run workflows and show you the results
It edits the canvas in real time while you keep working, and every result is a full workflow you can reuse, not just an image. Comfy Agent runs on frontier models from Anthropic.
Q. Where can I use Comfy Agent?
Comfy Agent is available now on Comfy Cloud. There's nothing to install.
Support for Comfy Desktop and local ComfyUI, including your own GPU, models, and custom nodes, is coming soon.

Q. How do I start using Comfy Agent?
Sign in to Comfy Cloud and open a workflow.
Click Agent next to your workflow tabs at the top of the screen.
The first time, read the notice and click Start using Comfy Agent.
Use Choose a workflow in the Agent panel to pick the workflow it should work on.
Describe what you want and send your message.

Q. How much does Comfy Agent cost?
Everyone gets free tokens to try a few chats. After that, Comfy Agent uses the same Comfy Credits you already use for generations:
Chats use credits based on the tokens in each conversation.
Workflows the Agent runs use credits the same way as any other run.
You need a positive credit balance to keep using the Agent, but you don't necessarily need a subscription. In a team workspace, the Agent uses the workspace's shared credits.

Q. What happens when I run out of credits?
The Agent stops and shows an Out of credits message. Depending on your account, you'll see an option to add credits, subscribe, or upgrade your plan.
Team workspace members: ask a workspace owner to add credits.
Enterprise workspaces: credits are added through your Comfy account team.

Q. Will the Agent run workflows without asking me?
Not unless you allow it. Choose a run permission next to the message box, then click Save changes:
Ask (default): the Agent asks before each run. Click Run to start it, or Cancel to skip it.
Auto: the Agent runs workflows without asking each time.
Run permissions only control runs. The Agent can edit your selected workflow in either mode, so if you want to keep an untouched copy, duplicate the workflow before you start.
Q. Which workflow will the Agent edit?
The Agent works on one workflow at a time: the one shown under Choose a workflow in the Agent panel. Until you pick one, reference a node, or send a message, it follows the tab you're viewing. If it's editing the wrong workflow, choose the right one and send your message again.
It can also read your other workflows for reference, for example: "Use the same sampler settings as my portrait workflow."
Q. Can I use my own workflows, models, and custom nodes?
Workflows: yes. The Agent works with your existing workflows.
Models and custom nodes: on Comfy Cloud, it uses the models and custom nodes available in your workspace. Support for any local model and custom node comes with Comfy Desktop support.
Q. Can I have more than one chat?
Yes. You can run up to 5 chats at the same time, and each one has its own history and context. Open Chat history in the Agent panel to go back to an earlier chat or delete one.
Q. What are Agent skills?
Skills are saved instructions the Agent can reuse, like "use a square 1024 × 1024 canvas and a gray background." To create one, tell the Agent in chat, for example: "Save this as a skill called product-shot: …"
It's saved to your account and used when a request matches it, or when you ask for it by name. You can also use Comfy's public skills, and update or delete a skill by asking the Agent.
💡 Keep API keys and passwords out of your skills.

Q. Is my data private?
The Agent uses your messages, the workflow and nodes you select, your attachments, and workflow errors to answer. It can also look at the workflows, models, and nodes in your workspace when needed.
Your data is never used to train AI models.
On Comfy Cloud, your chats, workflows, and assets are stored in your Comfy Cloud account.
To request deletion of your data, contact [email protected].

Q. How is Comfy Agent different from Comfy MCP?
Comfy Agent is built into ComfyUI. You chat with it next to your canvas, and it edits and runs your workflow while you watch.
Comfy MCP connects your own AI assistant or coding agent to Comfy, on Comfy Cloud or your own machine.

Q. Something isn't working. What do I do?
I don't see the Agent button: make sure you're signed in on Comfy Cloud. The Agent isn't available in Comfy Desktop yet. If it's still missing, contact support so we can check your account's access.
The Agent panel doesn't open: click Agent, then Start using Comfy Agent. If you chose Skip for now earlier, you'll see the notice again. You'll also see it the first time you use the Agent in another workspace.
It asks for an image or file: click Attach a file or drag the file into the message box, then ask it to continue. You can attach images, video, audio, 3D models, and text files.
It reports a missing model: ask it for an alternative that's available in your workspace, or add the model and ask it to check the workflow again.
"You can try again in …s": wait for the countdown, then send your message again.
"Comfy Agent hit a server error": try again. If it keeps happening, contact support.
To stop a response: click Stop or press Esc. A run that has already started keeps going, so manage it from the queue.
Q. How do I give feedback or get help?
Feedback: use the feedback form, or the
#comfy-agentchannel on our Discord. You can also rate any Agent response as Helpful or Not helpful.Support: use Report a Bug for problems, or Billing / Refund Issue for credit charges.
